The 1969 Trans Am for me is the best Pontiac of all time. Since it is the car that started one of the most recognized names in American Muscle Car History!! An American Icon, it was even named after the famed racing sport of those days, the Trans-Am Racing.

I lived in Calif in 1970   On senior day (graduation)all the rich farmers sons had their muscle cars doing some street racing, all day long,Hemi Cudas,428 SCJ Mustangs
440Challengers,AMX's390,Hurst Olds(W-30,Buick GS Stage-1's etc.
At the end of the day the TopDog was a 1970 RA IV  GTO Judge with a 3-speed standard trans His victim was a 1970 Hemi Cuda 4-Speed

My Father raced a 1959 Poniac Bonneville low 14's in the mid 60's, Chas,S.Carolina
Walterboro Dragstrip,Savannah Ga..Palmetto Raceway
I remember it was a 389 3x2's Detroit Locker 4.30 gears   (Holeshot monster)
Dan the Hatchet man ( Pontiacs are named after an Indian cheif in the great lakes area )

This question cannot be truly answered. Todays kids couldn't comprehend the true horsepower potential from abbrevations like  GTO, S.D.421 S.D.421 , RAM AIR I,III,IV  &  H.O.455. Todays modern Pontiac 2nd wave of musclecars has ended. It no longer encites the days of yester-year. I do plan on getting the last true musclecar Pontiac will ever build...a G8 GXP.

So with that...
My best would be any rare 70's-79's 2nd gen. Trans Am.

1973 Super Duty TA. Quicker (didnt say faster) then the top dog Vette from the same year. Pontiacs flip off to emissions standards and corporate B.S. that nothing could outdo the Vette.

If you want all out performance then a 01-02 WS6 or Firehawk. Say what you want. Whine all you want that it has a Chevy LS1. Well it still wears a Pontiac badge and styling. And the LS1 engines are absolute powerhouses. For 15 grand my LS1 powered 01 Z-28 (Not even an SS) with just a cat back and a drop in filter ran 12.97 on crappy street tires! Then there is the improved handling and braking with a much more modern car.

If you want rare then try to find a 69 TA convertible. Pontiac only made 8 and from last I read one down with only 7 left.

67 GTO!!  From head lights to tail lights, the car looks mean. No other year has those tail lights or that chrome trim. Down to the imprint of the interior, no other car can match it. Why do people want to make clones of these?

Hands down for me is the 58 Bonneville Continental package.  BIG BIG car with BIG BIG style.  Designing ahead of its time.  Nice "rocket" going down the side, chrome everywhere you look.  Lord knows they dont make 'em like that anymore!
