Hey everybody,

Thanks for contributing to the HPP message boards. In the end it is you that will make this site a success.

If at all possible, we'd like for you to use the categories we have setup for posting threads. We tried to setup categories that will help posters and readers find what they're looking for.

Let us know if the categories don't make sense or we need to change things.

Thanks!

Since there isn't a "newbie" sticky maybe it would help break the ice for newcomers such as myself.
Just a thought.

Can anyone tell me the right motor mounts I would need in order to bolt a sbc in my 73 firebird? I am currently having no luck using the mounts from a 73 camero.  They bolt in the existing frame holes but the brackets aren't lineing up when I drop the motor in...

The Chevy mounts use different holes than the pontiac mounts, have a look at any SBC powered 70-81 Camaro or Firrebird to see where the mounts are bolted to the crossmember. Or hang the frame mounts from the block brackets and set the motor in place with the trans attached and lined up on the trans mount. This will show you where it fits.

Also, it's not too terribly difficult to make the frame mounts you need for the sbc but WHY A CHEVY? Im a firm believer of keeping real Pontiac power in Real Pontiac cars. I made the mounts for my 79 Firebird to retrofit a 1st gen 69 Pontiac motor. You need a drill press, grinder, vise and a torch, a few measurements, a little luck and you're on your way.( or you could just buy them, I guess!)
