I'm really a noob when it comes to repair and technical parts of a vehicle but I really love cars and modifying it. As of now, I'm into learning it from my Firebird, my dad told me that I should be the one who's fixing and taking care of it. Challenging but really not into me. And like last night, he checked on it and told me to replace new parts that haven't seen nor hear anywhere.
He told me to buy Pontiac turn signal assembly and Pontiac valve cover gasket and all I know are turn signals. Help me with this one, so I can learn all the way to fixing my car myself.

Do you not know what a valve cover gasket is? I don't think I understand the question. If that is your question, then I have a reply.
The cylinder heads have valve covers. These cover the rocker arms, valves, and retain the oil in the cylinder head. In order to maintain a tight seal, there is a gasket around the perimeter of the valve cover. When this becomes worn, or cracked, it will allow oil to seep out.
Does this help?
