What I have is the original 389 engine and transmission with all of the extras ie(alternator, power steering pump, A/C compressor) All complete was running when taken out of car on 08/18/07. It came out of a 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix. I am wanting either a 400 or 455 to put in the *** You can Email me @ jkentblythe@yahoo.com Thanks

Hi there -- saw your ad for the 389 for sale -- do you still have it and if so, what is the engine code off it. I do have a 400 complete, running
Thanks, Colin

if my memory serves me correctly there is a change over year that the motor mounts and trans mounts were changed and I think 64/65 was that year in large cars as the turbo hydramatic was introduced that then and it was a change over body style.

I believe that Classic industries or Ames sells an adapter to install the older engines into a newer firebird. Check it out before you just dump it.

Ames Performance sells the mounts that allow your 389 to bolt into your '78 ***
P/N FN619A is a kit that sells for $30 and fits all pre-1969 engines in the 70-81 chassis.
