anyone have advice how to restore a 66 console? i am painting the plastic base but the metal top is worn off and i would like to know what paint to use and how to prep it also other than a brush how do you paint between the cracks on the top or can you send it out?  

You have probably already finished yoru project but I just did this. I cleaned the top of the console really good first. Then I wiped it off with acetone. then I jsut painted the entire top trim black. After that I spent a couple hours wiping the tops of the ribs off with an acetone soaked, lint free paper towel. You want to be care full not to get any acetone into the ribs because it will cause the paint to lif there too. Its took a while but it turned out great.
