The newer corvette engines seem to have a lo more power i would just like to know if a newer engine like an LS2 or LS7 would fit in a 2001 trans am without major engine compartment adjustments. thanks for any information

The LS2 and LS7 are not physically larger. The knock sensor on the LS2/7 is different and will require you to change it. The LS7 has a different flex plate, and will have to be modified, as well as the dry sump oiling. You can buy a crate LS7 block without the dry sump to help the install go a little smoother.
Aside from that you should have too much trouble. Call a notable LS1 shop and ask them. Most of them have done the swap.
