I have a 69 vert that I'm putting a LS1/t-56. I just pulled the rear end and this is the code on the passenger axle. JD G102 1, on the center section is the code C302. I believe it is an 8.5 10 bolt. It takes an 1 1/4" socket for the pinion nut.
If it is an 8.5 10 bolt, what upgrades do you guys recomend. I know that I want a 3.42 gear, but I'm uncertain as to which way to go for the posi trac, axles and yoke. Any help would be appreciated.

Unless someone swapped it, the axle should be an 8.2" not an 8.5". You may find it easier to get posi and gears for the 8.5 than the 8.2. A good starting point would be a disc brake unit from a 79-81 TA, lots of upgrades are available for it, such as Auburn posi's Richmond gears and stronger axle shafts and C-clip eliminators (check with the company that amkes these to see if they work with the disc brake rearend). If using this setup don't forget that the master cylinder and proportioning valve as well as the lines and cables will need to be changed.
