I HAVE A 81 T/A IT CAME WITH THE 301 BUT I HAD 350P OUT OF A 73 CATALINA AFTER I SAT IT IN I HAVE HAD NO LUCK WITH PUTING THE SHAKER BACK ON. ALL THE ANSWERS I HAVE FOUND SO FAR INVALVE HACKING UP MY ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. I KNOW IT CAN BE DONE IF I HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER SHAKER OFF A 400 CAR I JUST WANT IT TO FIT AND LOOK RIGHT NOT ALL BUGGERD UP

You are right, because the 301 is a low deck block the shaker scoop and breather are different than the 400( which is the same height as a 350). Make sure when you look for a new assembly that you get one from a 400 not 403 Olds, they are different as well.

yea i got a 81 trans am that had a 301 in it originally but now a 71 pontiac 350 is in it i bought a 403 shaker and it dont work now im looking for a 400 shaker

You can also get a base unit from Larry Navarro of WFO Performance. He frequents a few Pontiac boards like TransAmCountry and Performance Years. You can send him an email. I'm sure he can help you or give you good advice. Several builders use him as well. Like Butler Performance. Thomasmoto79
