Hey guys...new here and thrilled to find this site!

I have a 1976 TA with the 400 and borg warner t10 that I am just now rebuilding (bought it in 1982, disassembled it in 1995 then got married, had children, etc...you know the story....it is still disassembled).  I have almost completed rebuilding the engine, but I can find no oil slinger for the lower timing gear (I do not remember there being one, I just assumed there was)....is it supposed to have one, or does the gear just sit in the oil at the front of the oil pan?  Also, I do not see (or remember) a windage tray.  Did pontiac stop using these in 1974 or something?

Any help will be appreciated, and I look forward to interacting!.

Nope, no oil slinger, and I don't know exactly when they stopped using the tray but neither my 75 350 or 75 400 had one, but if you buy one it will fit. 76 TA is one of nicest, glad you held on to it all these years, good luck figuring out how it all goes back together!

Whew, thanks a million, Barney.  I already had the oil pan and timing cover assembled when I thought about those pieces, and didn't want to tear them back off, not that it's that big of a deal.  Also, appreciate the encouragemnt...I'm sure I'll have several questions so thank you guys in advance....I still remember quite a bit, plus I'll actively be going through the front and rear suspension, rear axle, interior, etc so hopefully I can answer some questions as well for someone.

Most of these pans had a baffle in them instead of a windage tray after sometime in the mid 70s, maybe as early as 72. Early stuff 64 and back had a full length tray. I had to think also where I had put the slinger on my 400, then remembered this ain't a Chevy. If you have a pan with the baffle the windage tray won't fit and the main caps probably don't have the necessary holes to bolt it to. I just got done putting my oil pan on for the third time. First I left the oil pump drive rod out, thought it would drop in from the top side. Then problems with the dip stick tub. After buying two and custom fitting one I tack welded it to the block I hope I've got it.
