There used to be a three part article about bolt on performance parts on a stock 76 455 from a Grand Prix. It was a really handy article, clearly demonstrating the impact individual parts had on overall performance. Went through intake, heads, cam, etc. Can't seem to find it now.

I think the article you are refering to was in Car Craft, I recall they did such a test a few years back. They started by dyno testing a stock 76 455, then added headers and intakes and cams. They finally ended up with Edelbrock heads. I'll try to find it for you.

Sorry, it was Muscle Car Review spring 2004. The "anniversary special-GTO turns 40". They baselined it at 243hp@3500rpm and 401ft.lbs@2900rpm with everything stock and dual exhaust. Then they kept adding bolt-ons until they got 441hp@4500rpm and 550ft.lbs.@3500rpm with a Comp XE274H cam, Edelbrock heads and RPM intake and Hedman 1 3/4" x 3" headers. All of this was on a stock 28 year old short block!
