I'm getting close to the end of my 65 GTO clone project. Now it's time to pony up for a set of headers. I'm in a real quandry as which type and brand to choose. Three tube, four tube, turned, coated or painted, big bucks or middle of the range??? This car has a slightly modified 400, and will be driven extensively. Coast to coast on one of the power tours is the goal. The car has 3.55 rear gear with 200R-4. Any help with experience with fit and satisfaction would be appreicated.

Hedman street headers at Summit # hed-35260 1 3/4 with ball and socket should be fine for slighty modified. And they are for that body style. good luck

I agree. I have Hedman Husslers in my 75 TA. They are 1 7/8 for Round Port heads. Get the ceramic coated ones. Worth the extra cost. My buddy had his done in black so they look like the headers of the 70's. Mine in bright silver. Looked polished.

What kind of heads to you have (D-port or round port)? I've had one set of Hooker Competition headers 1 5/8" primaries on my car for almost 18 years now- good product. I had them blasted and repainted every time I swapped a motor and they've held up well. I will definitely go ceramic coated when I do change out the headers for the ones to match aluminum heads.

I have a pair of 6X heads with D ports. I'm leaning toward your suggestion of the coated Hookers. Jegs has them for $410 including shipping. Thanks

I have no.48 heads on my 406 now, but always had the high comp. heads on any motor that went into my car over the last 18 years. Three motors, but the same pair of Hooker headers- that pretty much sums up the quality there.
