I have a 1996 Trans Am that recently started leaking automatic transmission fluid. I personally prefer the feel of a manual transmission and don't like the shift points in the automatic. So, I thought this would make a good excuse to convert my car from an automatic to a manual. I have a mechanic lined up to help me once I get the materials but was looking for a list of everything that I would need to purchase to make the swap. Has anyone tried this or is it not worth the trouble? Also, does anyone know all the parts that would be required? I would appreciate any info on this. Thanks.

I actually know someone who did this exact swap. He just bought a complete totaled camaro with a manual, and a tremec 5 speed on ebay.He just slowly swapped everything over and it worked perfect because he had a relatively similar car to compare too. I've seen the car race and I can attest to the fact that it fit together and runs like it came that way from the factory. He also said the you can buy extra underbody braces that really help if you ever plan on drag racing the car and launching it hard.
To me, this seems like the most cost effective and worry free way to do it...
