Well, let me ask this a different way:

after reviewing 13,429 web pages, I now understand the difference between internally and externally balanced engines, and the differences in their flywheels.  The question now is HOW do I know if my engine is internally balanced or externally balanced?  I do not have the original flywheel, so I don't know if there was a weight on it or not....all I know (without benefit of knowing what to look for) is that a couple of the crankshaft counterweights have some large holes drilled in them, seemingly to remove material for balancing....should I assume therefore that the engine is internally balanced??  Any information is MUCH appreciated.....2 days left on the eBay auction!

Duane, check your other post about flywheels, that way I don't have to type it twice. Hope it helps, happy shopping!
Trying to help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!
