Hello.
can anyone help me with the opening (gap) on the contact set/ platina. i have a 67 gto with a 400cid engine

Pontiac specifies 30 dgrees of dwell angle, not a point gap, usually at 600 rpm. If you don't have a dwell-tachometer, set the point gap so the engine will start - try .020". Turn the adjustment screw clockwise until the engine starts to misfire, then back it out 1/2 turn.

By the way, get rid of the points and replace them with a Pertronix Ignitor (#1181 for Pontiac). It will be the best $85 you ever spent. No more points. I hear so many cars at the swap meets and car shows turn over several seconds before starting, some I wonder if they're ever going to fire. My '69 400 starts so quickly, I don't even hear the starter turn.
