since you said no bugget there are these heads that you can buy from butler performance  tiger heads 400+CFM and all fully equipd ready to go they are like $5000 for both i belive.  with thses heads you can make more than 700 HP!
Question for you now.  Street or Strip use?  Pump gas, or race gas?  AC?  Stock block or aftermarket block.  Rear end Gears?  4 Speed or auto( what kinda stall if auto).  Let me know if you if you know any of these factors yet.  ive already built a pontiac 461 that runs 12.2 sec 1 1/4mile @115MPH with a 4 Speed ina 79 TA(3900LBS)stock suspention. on 94 octane with STOCK edelbrock heads NO PORTING. and its a street car.  Feel free to PM me ill le you know my spec on my engine.

Listen to Cerebral, the guy is asking you for all the right info and he has experience with the kind of build you want. 12.2@115 is cooking for a true street driven car (we're not talking the "pro-stocks with plates" kind of street cars that Hotrod likes to show!).

mikejr22: you might want to check out pontiacengines.com for the edelbrock heads ported by bruce fulper they run 2500-2800 dollars and are capable of making the power you want with the right intake and cam combo.

hey i used to have a 70 lemans with a 350 but i was rear ended a few weeks ago and decided to start fresh so i traded and paid out a few bucks and bought a 1970 bonneville wagon with a 1970 455. the engine was completely rebuilt about 3,000 miles ago...the original owner says it built 425 horses and 500+ torque, i have a few questions about it. first off what was the engines original power? secondly.... the engine has forged internals and a good set of edelbrock heads, a .510 lift cam, and long tube headers... but the original owner opted to put a stock 4 barrel and stock intake on it. it has slight hesitation from a dead stop...is that because its carburator/intake combo is not big enough to feed this engine? from what i hear from my father (who has had many 455s this engine could use a nice edelbrock torqer II intake and an 750 or 800 double pumper.... need some more opinions! thanks!
