So i didnt see any posts on here about leaky transmission and figured id start one just cause im fixing my stupid th350 atm because its leaking about half a quart ever 5 minutes or so... Anyways after i spent about 30 minutes crawling around underneath my baby i found the culprit to be somewhere in the front of the transmission pan up by the engine flex plate you hook it up too... so i took the cover off of the plate and torque converter to play around with it and rtved the **** out of it... so waited about 45 minutes and went out started the car and one of the streams was gone... had two orginally from the leak... so checked the transmission pan again and i couldnt see where it would be leaking... took a flash light and started looking up behind the torque converter and its all wet with tranny fluid took some time to see if i could target it anywhere specifically and found a few bolts inside behind the torque converter that looked like the were leaking... ask what i did? I RTVED the **** out of those too... anyways just waiting for it to dry now but if anyone can give me some advice as to where else i should look would be much appreciated... and im sure some of the guys who got a lil leak going on would love to hear all the different spots to look too

so far i only got these for a th350

transmission pan...
o ring on bottom of dip stick...
spedometer cable...
transmission gasket...
vacumm modulator...

I have the same problem with my TH-350 and I can't figure out where it is leaking. Before I took my motor and trans out, there was transmission fluid dripping onto my driveway making a pool about 8 inches in diameter after a week. I get up under it and theres tranny fluid all over the passenger side. I still yet to fix it but I am about to look at it again before painting it and putting it back in the car. If I figure it out, ill tell ya since it maybe whats wrong with yours

Addacore it is most likely the front pump seal witch I always replace when ever the engine or trans has been remove for a rebuild or swap reguardless if it was leaking or not.Always rub some fresh trans fluid on the torq. converter shaft before sliding it in to the seal.

*** when i swapped my motor i didnt pull the torque converter out or anything last night like i said i rtvd the **** out of it and i got it to stop leaking from the middle... however my exhaust pipe is still smoking and i noticed theres a small spray of tranny fluid coming out of the passenger side hitting it thus the smoke anyways my question is do you think that seal would still be bunk? thanks Pontiacman and david thank you too

A small spray of fluid on the pass. side could be the trans. cooler lines.Regaurdless If it was leaking or not I alway change the seals its just cheap insurance. Also if the torq converter is pushed into far apond installation it can some times cause it to leak.

Hello, I've been rebuiding transmissions for 31 years , a 350 is a pretty basic tranny, most transmission leaks are 2 types of leaks, when the car is setting or when it's running. If it leaks when it sets , lets get a lwsson on the way it works, when you shut off your engine the fluid in the torque convertor drains the fluid back in to the pan, which raises the fluid level, anything bellow that level will leak. Here's a list , front pump o- ring , accumulator cover , the round cover on the passenger side behind the dipstick tube , kickdown cable , and the dipstick tube, and the pan. A speedometer cable will only leak mostly when your moving  so goes for the modulator . When it leaks when it's running it's probably front seal or the pump bushing or a cooler line . if you pull it out be sure to change the pump gasket, o-ring , front seal and the bushing. front seals normally don't leak much unless the bushings bad. glad to help, if anyone has a question about transmission i 'd be glad help. see ya pontiac nuts , Hey if anyone knows where i can find a set of gauges for a 74 lemans sports coupe , or grand am guages , i'd appreciate it . Thanks
