This is a real '78 Trans Am, not a Firebird clone. Originally equipped with Pontiac 400, automatic, t-tops, and radial tuned suspension. Transmission works, t-tops are good, FRAME HAS NO RUST, backseat recently recovered (or just in beautiful factory condition), interior plastics all in good shape (including dash and console), body is straight and only has 90K original miles. Rust on both rear wheel wells, rust in the floors, needs two door panels, needs two front seats, small rust hole in passenger fender, needs driver side grille, needs good home. I have too many projects and not enough time.

The motor is a Pontiac 400, coolant was leaking into the oil. Headgaskets didn't look bad visually, heads (6X-8s) were magnafluxed and checked out fine, block maybe cracked but antifreeze looked good. It is the numbers-matching motor for the car. The car is not running, I am sick of people asking me if the car runs. Having coolant in the oil then taking the top end off means the car does not run at the moment! However, it did run (just with coolant in the oil) before I took the top end off. I do have a replacement motor if you are interested, please read the bottom of the ad for more details.

$1000 for the car and motor. Many more pictures available. The wheels pictured do not come with the car, it is now equipped with black Cragars.

The replacement motor mentioned currently sits in a 1974 Pontiac Ventura (like a Chevy Noca). It has a '68 Pontiac 400 340hp motor (YE code, original #15 heads) out of a B-body. The motor runs strong (very strong, it has a few aftermarket bits on the top end) and will be sold with the Ventura as a single unit. Email or call for more information on this car.
