HI ANYONE WHO CAN HELP

I AM IN SOUTH AFRICA AND HAVE A NUMBERS MATCHING 68 FIREBIRD AND NEED A REBUILD ON THE PONTIAC 350. PROBLEM: ALL SITES I HAVE BEEN TO DO NOT LIST 350 PISTONS OVERSIZE 20 OR 30 THOU.
I DO NOT WANT TO SWAP ANOTHER MOTOR AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE AS TO A DEALER IN USA THAT DOES CARRY THE 350 PISTONS.
ALTERNATIVELY ANY OTHER IDEAS ON WHAT I COULD USE?

THANKS

Summit Racing has Federal Mogul cast pistons (stock replacements) in several oversizes and Rock & Roll Engineering lists TRW forged in stock and .030+ sizes. I'm sure other outfits carry the same part numbers so rebuilding your #'s matching block shouldn't be a problem. Hope you aren't near the riot areas, if you are take care.

Arlindo, Summit Racing has Federal Mogul cast flat-top 4 valve relief pistons in .020,.030,.040, and .060" oversizes. All pontiac 350's used flattop pistons and varied compression ratio by the size of the combustion chambers in the cylinder heads, so these are what you need. The part # is STL-357P20(30,40,60 depending on oversize) and they are $32.69 USD each, I believe they include the wrist pins at that price as well. If you call their tech line, they can probably set you up with a very reasonably priced complete overhaul kit too.
Sorry about the riot comment, a bit of geographical ignorance on my part, I checked Google Earth, and Kenya is nowhere near you! After all these years of laughing at Europeans who come to Canada and expect to travel from Toronto to Vancouver in an afternoon, I get caught in the same sort of mistake! Lucky for us the Pontiac world is a little closer!

THANKS STEVE
BY GOING WITH THE FLAT TOPS IT MEANS I WILL HAVE TO CHANGE MY HEADS BECAUSE I HAVE NO 94 HEADS WHICH HAVE A DISMAL 96CC CHAMBER. I OBVIOUSLY CANNOT MILL OFF TOO MUCH OF THE HEADS OR I WILL RUN INTO OTHER PROBS.
AM I CORRECT OR WHAT TYPE OF COMP RATIO WILL I END UP WITH THESE HEADS.
GOT AN IDEA WHAT AFTERMARKET HEADS COST. I WONDEER IF ITS WORTH GOING WITH FLAT TOPS AND NEW HEADS. IT WILL PROBABLY WORK OUT CHEAPER WITH THE 600USD PISTONS. WHATS YOUR OPINION. BY THE WAY I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CALL HO PERFORMANCE BUT HAVE AN OLD NO. DO THEY NO LONGER EXIST?
YEAH!BIG *** IN KENYA -ITS CALLED DEMOCRACY WITH AN AFRICAN FLAVOR!
THANKS

the casting #94 heads have 80CC chamber and that will give you a8.2:1c.r. witch will run fine on 87 octane and those are 1971 heads.

Arlindo, I'm with Pontiacman8 on the head issue. I would use the #94 heads with a 3 or 5 angle valve job and a mild milling to get the compression up around 8.5:1. That way you can use 87 octane gas. All the replacement pistons for Pontiac 350's are flat-tops, that's the only way Pontiac built them. So you can vary the C.R. only by changing cylinder head chamber size. This can get expensive if you are paying overseas shipping, I would use what you have and make the most of them.
As for HO Racing, I don't think they exist anymore, Ken Crocie has a site called HO Enterprises which is mainly a info-for-pay consultation business for Pontiac performance. I've included his web address below as well as another with info about the old HO Racing.

A little clarification---I do not charge for consultation AND I still sell parts, although not to the extent i did back in the 80s and 90s. Please go to www.horacing.com or www.hoenterprises.com
