Does anyone know the history on this dual gate shifter feature?  Was this an option or standard on the 1972 Grand Prix?  My owners manual says nothing about it, nor does the build sheet.  Have to admit I had fun telling my brother his Z06 Vette's steering column paddle shifter owes its existence to the classic Pontiacs!  Thanks for any info.
