i just installed a 72 455 in my 66 bonneville and put the stock intake and carb setup off the 389 on the 455 and the exhaust crossover in the head is exposed. do the stock 71-76 intakes cover the crossover cause the one that came with the motor exposed it also. i know its not good performance wise for the 389 intake but is convienient and cheap for the time being
Thanks, jason

"Either fill in the 'blind hole' above the exhaust crossover on the 72 - newer head or use a stainless steel block off plate. Using the plate will make the crossover not able to heat the under side of the intake manifold. Cold drivability may be affected."
From John Wallace's website.

You would have to have the head off and disassembled. Better the stainless steel block off plate option. You said that the 66 intake was "temporary", right?
BTW, the "plate" should be a 0.010 thick shim. Go to any machine shop and ask them for same. You can cut to fit with simple metal shears. It's no big deal.
