Door Hinge Rebuild Kits... How to retain the hinge pin?

Hi guys... I bought a door hinge repair kit from Ames Performance for my '79 Formula Firebird. As the car is already apart for paint prep, I've pulled the factory hinge pins out, along with what was left of the bushings.
The factory pins were 'swaged", so they wouldn't come out. Is there a swaging tool I can buy somewhere to swage the new hinge pins, or do you  simply drop them in from the top and let gravity hold them in place? I can't find any such tool!
Also thought about drilling a hole through the pin and adding a washer and cotter pin, but I'd rather swage them like GM originally did. Thanks!

I always weld a spot on the pin to hold it in place.
