Hello all,
I would like to locate a nice "Plain Jane" vintage Pontiac. I live in northern Virginia, and have had difficulty finding a good example. I like the early-70s Ventura, Le Mans, and Catalina, among a few others. I realize the musclecar models are out of my price range, and so I will avoid them. Also, I prefer the understated "Plain Jane" look anyway. My price range would be about $5,000 (or less). I have checked some local newspapers, including a local swap paper, and rarely see anything interesting. Are the specifics I have stated unreasonable or unrealistic? I would appreciate your advice or suggestions.

To find an afordable and useable vintage project you need to get out of the rust belt. Anything you may find there that is even worth considering will be expensive. Get or Craig's list or go to the library and get the nickle ad papers from the southwest and west. Once you get the name of the papers you can read them on-line. There is a local guy here in WA. that has some good canidates you can find him at Dansgarage.bentonrea.org. There have some nice local cars here go 5 grand. Hit Gaintnickle.com. One of our club members had a real nice 65 LeMans for sale last year with new paint and interior for $5000.00
