I want to eliminate the points system on my '69 Goat and convert to electronic. I do not wish to buy an entire dist for over 200 bucks. I would rather convert my current dist. What is a good conversion kit to use? Thank you!

Pertronix, around $70-80. Fits under the stock cap, looks stock.
A little help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!

Cool cool. I am looking forward to getting myself one of these conversion kits. Can someone provide me with a part number for the PerTronix conversion product? Also, where should I buy from? Summit? Thanks guy!

I think the one you will need is PNX-1181 from summit.

Is this the item that I want? http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PNX-1181&N=700+4294925143+400428+4294873053+4294908402+4294873052+4294906025+115&autoview=sku
The picture looks like it only has a hall effect sensor and a couple wires. Will I need to buy other parts as well in order to complete the conversion?

I would suggest calling thier 1-800 number or e-mailing thier customer service, that way if they sent you the wrong part it could be exchanged.

No, I have not ordered the part yet. I want to order the part ASAP but I am unsure of which one I need. If someone could tell me the correct PerTronix distributor conversion kit (there are many of them) then I'll order it.

Yes, the 1181 is the correect one for '69. I put one on mine (it has a 69 motor) year before last, and it has been the best $80 I have spent on the car so far.

Yeah, right on! I installed the ignitor II kit on mine a few days ago. Works great! Glad to have eliminated the points.

I've run a Mallory Unilite in the stock GM distributor for over 16 years with no problems, other than replacing a burned-out module over 10 years ago. The Mallory unit also offer better upgrades like racing coils and CD ignitions- I've run the Unilite with a no.29625 Promaster coil and Hyfire iV CD ignition for about 15 years, and the setup still works as well as the day I installed it.

Gentleman, I am a newbie on this site and need some help with this issue. I istalled the Ignitor II and now the car won't fire. I bought the unit a while ago and lost the installation sheet. I checked with the manuf. and I do have the correct unit for the car. I think I have something wired wrong. I put my points set up back in the car and it fired up. This may sound weird but I have 3 wires going to the negative side of the coil and 2 going to the positive side. 67 GTO 400, 4 speed, all stock components.
If anyone can tell me how to start a new thread that would be greast also.
