Hello . I had my 1966 Lemans sport coupe with a 326 for 20 yrs.I am dissabled and have been rebuilding it for the last 5 yrs. I have lightened it up a bit removed AC, heater box and lightened the engine and suspension a bit.I maybe took off 200-300 lbs. Since the car is in still pieces I cannot weigh it to select the correct springs .I have CPP tubular A-arms .I am going to buy QA1 coilovers but what size? I am thinking 350 lbs. or 450 lbs. springs . Does anyone know the original front end weight of a 66 Lemans or GTO. or has anyone swapped springs , if so what size? This is a street machine. Thanks from Canada

Try contacting Eaton Detroit Springs, they can help you select the right springs for your ride. They should be able to work from the original specs and choose a spring rate that will give you the ride height, ride quality and handling that you want. That's all they do so they are the experts. Steve PS: Where in Canada? I'm about an hour south of Ottawa. Several other guys are within an hour's drive of me.
A little help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!

Thanks Steve I'll try them tomorrow . Hope they can help. I'm just outside Oshawa. A few nice Pontiacs around here.Mostly Chevy's though. Parts are tough to get around here for a 66 Pontiac and good advice even harder ! Cheers , Kevin

Detroit springs replied and said the stock vehicle's weight is 3,090 and I might need 250 lbs. springs . 3090 sounds a little light to me ,but I'm not sure. But it also depends on my front/back balance or front end weight and they do not know. So If anyone has knowledge of this or the total front end weight of a 66 Lemans or GTO I would greatly appriciate it. QA1 250 lbs. springs - front end weight 1500-1700 lbs. QA1 350 lbs. springs - front end weight 1700-1900 lbs. Thanks again , Kevin

The Ultimate GTO site lists a 66 GTO coupe at 3,445 lbs. , I saw another listed at 3,259 lbs and Detroit spring says 3,090 lbs . Thats a big difference . Who is right?

I'm thinking I need "race weight" which could be 3500-3900 . I'm still trying to figure this out !!! I'll probably go with 350 lbs.
