2002 WS-6: 18" wheels vs. 17"?

i'm contemplating putting 18" wheels on my '02 T/A WS-6 - that will mean 275/35 series tires instead of the 275/40 series on the current 17" wheels. how will that affect performance and ride? anyone have experience? i kind of expect cornering will improve but ride will suffer - is that so? will the difference in ride be significant, or barely noticeable? (as anyone who has one knows, it's already pretty unforgiving)
