has anyone replaced their stock automatic shifter with an aftermarket brand? i have a 69 bird with a th400 automatic with console and would like to replace it. which brand have you used and was the swap a fairly simple one. did it fit the console with no problems. my tranny has P R N D S L. thanks dave.

I have a B&M rachet shifter in my TA.Its a mega shifter and fit right in the console. Mines a 79 with a TH 400 though. they might make one to fit your console as well not sure but you can do a web search. bolted right in no problems.

classic industries has a direct replacment aftermarket shifter for your bird. I got an 85 TA and my B+M went right in.
