Is there anybody out there who can tell me where I can find a 1970-73 nose for my firebird i just need the front end w/ lower valence i know where i can get the grill insterts and headlight. It seems impossible to find these parts anywhere! I've been looking for a while now so hopefully somebody with this problem foundd the answer cause i couldnt. Ive tried ebay but i have only found garbage that isnt worth the price they are asking. Im wanting to switch from my 76 front end to the 70-73. Thanks!!!!

This is not going to be of any help.
A year ago in Houston there was a salvage yard that had the whole entire front end, in perfect condition, from a 1972 for $500. The back of the car was smashed. I started to get it and transplant it onto my '79 Trans Am. I'm glad I didn't. Unless you do the back also you are going to end up with a fake 1970-73, and the car will not like you for it. These cars came from the factory looking good all the way from '69 through '81, and a '76 is a very good looking Trans Am or Formula. Although I agree, the original design was the ultimate - it defined the name Firebird. We who know these details have to keep in mind that the rice burner next to you doesn't. All they see is a kick ass car that can leave them in the dust.

pesonally i always thought that would be a good combo 79 to 81 have a nice rear style and 70 to 73 had a good front style the 70 to 73 front bumper are different from one another, because of styling, mounting and bumper impact laws i own a 73 formula and the thing about all of this is if you didnt like the price you didnt want it or need it bad enough im not trying to sound cocky ,but i also own a 69 tempest and paid 350.00 for abumper that was missing parts and another 100.00 on a hood that was bent i worked hard on th bumper and cut the scoops out of the hood and welded them into my stock hood and they both look as good as new, theres a company called the parts place that deals with used stuff and i think i have the number of the scrap yard i bought my bumper from, if you want to give them a call ,sometimes if these people dont have it they might know some one who does thats how i found my bumper .hope you get it done i would like too se it good luck

I know what you mean 6964. My wife had a 1978 baby blue Skybird with a 350. It was kidnapped one night never to be seen again. We always thought it would make a really cool looking Trans Am.
I've got a '78 in my driveway right now. I just rebuilt the 400 and 400 tranny on it, and it cooks. We were very tempted to do the body work and turn it into a Skybird Trans Am, but right now she is a very aggressive female car named Guadalupe, and I'm afraid if I turn her into a "girly car" she will never forgive me.
My daughter has a '79 Silver Anniversary 4 speed that was painted white when we bought it. No matter what I did it would not run right until we restored it to it's original glory. Strange but true.

The 70-73 nose swap on 74-81 'Birds is a very common thing, since many second gen Firebird owners like it. But finding the bumper brackets, lower valence, and turn signal parts is the biggest challenge to this conversion.
If I were to do this on a 74-81, I would at least make a fiberglass cap to hold a 70-73 rear bumper, and make a custom rear valence to hold the 70-73 taillights. I could live with the wraparound glass of the 75-81 'Birds- it's easier to see out of and still looks good.
