Yes the push rods are reusable as long as they are not bent or damaged.

Thanks again, I should take more time to think out my questions for you sothat I am not making so many posts, but most of my time on the puter is fleeting. I should have also asked if it would be ok to reuse the rocker arms and push rods. The push rods have "7372 competition cams magnum" stamped on them.

No i have not, they are on back order with Summit. There estimated ship date is August 24. I have not even purchased the heads either.
I cam across the following add on Kijiji (http://winnipeg.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-car-parts-tires-engine-engine-parts-SBC-ENGINE-PARTS-Heads-W0QQAdIdZ147361823) selling SBC heads off a crate engine that makes "350 poneys". let me know what you think about them? I have emailed the owner to see if i can get spring and valve and port info.....will let you know when he gets back to me.

I would recommend going with this cam sense you have 1.6 ratio rockers P#LUN-07101LK it has a .477 lift with 1.5 rockers and a .509 lift with 1.6 ratio rockers.

Okay...I just found a link on the site that allows me to email the add to some one, so I sent it to your AOL account.
This other cam and lifter kit you suggested.....as I compared them side by side on the summit web site, the only difference I see is that they have smaller numbers. Am I correct in thinking that the smaller numbers will just decrease the HP a little?
Okay...I just googled the casting number and this is what I got from the web in some forum;
"I have a set of Chevy late model small heads casting #14101083. I was advised that they are 64cc smog style with swirl fin cast into the intake runner. They have 1.94/1.50 valves and have about a 150cc intake runner.
What's the history behind the swirl fin (obviously to get better flow) ..but would these heads be suitable for a tuned port top end? I'm looking for mild performance..are these good heads"?
By any chance do you know the lenght of the cam as it is not listed. I am guessing at around 21". I ask becuase I am trying to see if I can remove the cam with out pulling the engine first. The Ventura has a "V" shaped nose so this gives some extra room, but there is a brace running diagonaly from the centre location that may cause me grief but I may not know for sure till I actualy begin to remove it....wish me luck!

I looked up the casting numbers on those heads and they came up as 1987-up 350 heads with 1.94/1.50 valves, 64cc chambers and was used on 285HP and 300HP crate engines and come up as EFI heads all 1987 iron heads that I have seen require a 1987-up intake because the 4 center bolt holes are at a different angle. From my experience the 1987-up EFI heads are not good power heads and you will loose power with these heads going to them from the double hump heads and the swirl EFI heads do not respond well to upgrades. The swirl port design was for better air/fuel atomization and was suppose give better gas mileage but they kill power big time.

The .477 lift cam with the 1.6 ratio rockers should not loose power or at least a enough to be noticeable because you will have a .509 lift instead of a .507 lift but the .477 lift cam just has a shorter duration which will also cause it to produce its power at a slightly low RPM which will give more low end power. Oh and the swirl design did not give better flow the swirl port heads do not flow well at all they were a very,very,very poor design.
Good Luck.
