I actually posted this question with another one but no one answered it so I am posting it again. With the Pontiac Nationals coming up I am asking for sincere answers. I am getting the car painted again this winter so I can always take it next year. Everyone thinks I am crazy for getting it painted but when you get within bout 5ft of it you can see where some kid hit it with a bike and I can pick up all the other flaws. Plus it needs the hood tack put back on that someone stole. Anyways, thank you in advance.
K, I have a 1967 Grand Prix Convertible. It has a 428 HO 4 speed. Fully loaded. Also has A/C. Anyway, it is in pretty good shape. The paint job is probably 25 years old. It has some nicks here and there but is gorgeous from about 5ft away. The interior is almost perfect except a crack in the drivers seat and the door panel. Anyways, I am getting it painted this winter and plan on getting the other things fixed. Oh, also needs new rubber around windows, trunk and hood. Anyway, do you think it is worth taking to a car show before all that work is done next year? It is Regimental red, white top, black interior. That is from factory. Only 47 like it due to A/C. Was like it originally according to original owner. I am 4th owner. Original owner sold it to his nephew who showed it all the time. He won serveral large trophies with it. My brother bought it from him, I bought it from my brother. So I know all is original on the car. PHS does not always get everything right it seems.

Patti, I would have no trouble with having it in the show, new paint is great but the history and engine/tranny combo you have will be more than enough to excite Pontiac lover's. I would say go for it and go back next year when it is repainted again. The connection's and info you get from attending a car show is excellent! Take Care, Pete

Sounds like a nice ride. Just curious, did PHS tell you the car wasn't built the way you bought it? It sounds like A/C is the issue, any chance that Pontiac didn't install A/C but the dealer did? Is it an underdash a/c unit or in dash? Showing a car is a personal decision, if it is a points judged show you likely won't go far, but for a local show, have at it. Steve
Trying to help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!

Steve,
The air is factory installed. It is installed exactly like the air in my other '67 GP where the PHS said it came with air. Same compressor with the same type of factory stickers on it, etc. Also, PHS did not mark on the paperwork that the convertible came with a convertible frame, the said it had 8 lug wheels, which it does, but 15' tires. Eight lug wheels don't have 15" tires. Also, everything in the car is power, they did not mark that. The original owner said they did not have all the power options added. I emailed PHS with questions, on their site where they said to, and no one ever responded. I read an article that some of them cars where made with all of them options and they did not keep track of how many were made. I even included that to PHS, but got no response. I truly would like to show it because it is a beautiful car. I really do think true Pontiac people would appreciate it even as it is. As far as the dealer installing things, my brother bought it from the original owner's nephew. He said all was original. Patti
