Hello. I have a 455 that has about 1000 miles on it, it hasn't ran in about 10 years and is going in my Firebird. Upon installing a Viton rear main seal, I noticed that there was a small part on the bearing in the rear main cap had a bit of copper showing in the dead center of the top of the bearing. I pulled all other main caps, they are all good. The crank was cut .010. The section is about 1/8" thick by 1/2" long. The engine had good oil pressure when the engine was pulled (50-60 psi). Is it possible that there was a high spot on the bearing? Any suggestions?
