Same as my 79 Formula, Platinum (code 15) on the upper and Charcoal (code 16) on the lower body. Check out my pics in Reader's Rides. Other colors available were: 11 Cameo White, 19 Starlight Black, 24 Atlantis Blue, 29 Nocturne Blue, 50 Solar Gold, 51 Sundance Yellow, 63 Sierra Copper, 69 Heritage Brown, 75 Mayan Red, 77 Carmine Red, and 80 Red Bird Red. For the two-tone formula package, 16 Dark Charcoal was used on the bottom of cars with codes 11,15,19,29, 51, 75 and 77. It was also the upper color on 10th anniversary TA's which had platinum (15) lower body color. What engine/trans and interior did your car come with? Mine had the 301 4bbl/th350 auto and light blue deluxe hobnail cloth interior with Rally II wheels. I've considered a color change to code 29 Nocturne Blue with the Charcoal lower accent on my car if I ever paint it. I knew a guy with a 79 TA that was code 29 with the light blue interior and it was a beautiful combo, I think it would really look good with the Charcoal and Formula package. Steve Steve

Where do you find the information on factory exterior color availability for a particular year Firebird? I have a 1977 Trans Am that is a metallic root beer brown and would like to do a color change. Thinking of an orangish red, but want to stick to a 1977 pontiac color. Thanks.

I got the info from the old Numbers Crunching series in HPP back in 1994-95. I am missing a few issues from back then, but the June issue covered 1979 so you would want the February issue since HPP was only printed 6 times a year back then. Steve

Thanks barneyformula. Any body have access to those old issues? I wonder if the staff at HPP could answer a question like this? Is there a way to e-mail them from this forum?
