What's up gear heads!I have a 1970 firebird formula 400. I want to put side pipe exhaust on the car, but haven't had any luck locating such exhaust for this type of car. Anybody out there know where I can locate such exhaust? Any help will be appreciated.

I don't think anyone has a specific kit for these cars. JC Whitney and Summit sell the side pipes and universal mounting kits, but you will have to have the down pipes from your manifolds or headers fabricated to fit. Side pipes have almost gone the way of the dinosaur, but if you want to build a cool seventies themed car they are almost as necessary as the airshocks and Cragar SS wheels! Don't forget the heavy metal flake paint too! Steve
A little help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!

I think side pipes would be cool looking. Nothing sounds as good as a car with side pipes...
I would look on e-Bay for some vintage pieces. That way they will have better chrome then the copperless junk they sell us today...
Might want to try a nice pair of Ram Air Restoration Long Branch manifolds to go along with your set up....

Sidepipes on a '70 Formula? My '62 Corvette had them for a while until I got tired of burning my leg on them. Today, on a vintage Formula, they would be the equivalant of traction bars that are almost scraping the ground - obviously not needed, or 17 inch chrome rims that spin backwards and blue lit hydralics.

No offense intended - they were just really a headache and will burn your lower leg off. They do look good on certain cars.
