1968 Pontiac GTO 400 HO engine (rebuilt) for sale

I have just purchased a 1959 Corvette that has been completely and beautifully restored (frame off). The car is original in almost every respect but one - it has a 1968 Pontiac GTO 400 HO motor in it.  The engine was rebuilt by the Corvette Center of Connecticut and only has about 500 miles on it since the rebuild.  The engine has been in the Corvette for almost it's entire life and was chosen over the typical 327 Chevy engines that were often used to replace the original's just because - well, because it was a better engine.  The previous owner liked the fact that his Corvette was unique and, from a driving standpoint, superior to any of the restored '56-62's he encountered.  The Corvette runs great but having the Pontiac engine in an otherwise original Corvette doesn't make much sense from an investment standpoint.  I can provide all the details but I will add for now that the intact manifold was changed out for an Edlebrock and the carb is a Holley.  The engine retains the original cast iron exhaust "headers."  Also, the engine is mated to a 4 speed Muncie (also not original to the Corvette) but I do not know if the transmission came from the GTO.  I hate to mess with such a well put together set up but if there is someone out there whose 1968 GTO is missing a date correct 400 HO engine, this might be a great opportunity.  

The 1968 Pontiac GTO HO 400 was considered the "top of the class" of the muscle car engines of it's day (Ram Air types notwithstanding).  There is no reason to think it wouldn't result in an outstanding upgrade to the vette engines of that time.  It could be worth a fair price a bit depending on it's milage - probably quite low if it's been in a restored vette for 40 years - and the quality of the rebuilt - probably pretty good if it was handled by a vette restoration shop.  Having the orginal intake would have been a plus - as would the carb - but those parts are available.  Details?  

do you have the block & head casting numbers . I am looking for block # 9790071 and head # 16

Pull the pontiac motor and trans. Sell the chick car corvette. Find a old TA or GTO and build a man car!!!!!
