i have a 87 trans am 305 w/carb.recently put a edelbrock airgap intake & 650 edelbroke carb.can someone tell me if i have to bypass the computer somehow.the car will not run unless i disconnect computer,but runs very poor

You will need to replace the computer controlled distributor with a non-computer HEI. It will install the same, but only requires the IGN wire and TACH wire hooked up to run right.
