took the old oldsmobile 350 out of a 77 trans am i bought and put in 400 with 400 transmission. two problems. None of the motor mount holes lined up. (i just drill and bolt in right?) and two the transmission mount bolt is about 4 inches away from where im suppose to bolt to the crossmember. (do i drill and bolt the crossmember further back to recieve tranny mount?) it is a 77 pontiac 400 also so idk where the problem lies. if i move motor towards the front (so tranny mount lines up with crossmember) the motor mounts no longer sit on the frame. anyone else run into this?

Order the correct frame mounts for a 77 TA with a 400 and they will fit with an existing set of holes in the crossmember. Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you pics of my crossmember so you can see where they bolt-in. As for the trans, the th400 is longer and the mount is further back. My Formula has the trans crossmember moved back and the holes redrilled in the subframe. You will need a shorter driveshaft with a larger slip yoke. Assuming your old trans was a th350, you could use it with the 400 V8 and not have to move the trans crossmember or change the driveshaft. Also the th400 requires a different shifter cable bracket or modify the th350 piece, it also requires an electric kickdown switch on the throttle pedal. Any other questions, feel free to ask.
