I have a 67 gto, 400, 670 heads. I am in the process of rapping up a cam swap and these stock headers keep staring at me. I am on a budget and I am looking for some decent headers that perform well. I would like to get away from heavy modifications to the engine compartment if possible. Any suggestions?

summitracing has headers for around $100 for pontiacs through a lot of years and models. they really suck to get put on because of the angle the exhaust ports are, but for $100 they weren't bad at all

i had a 66 GTO... i would suggest to anybody thinking of putting headers on one.. measure between the upper control arm mounting brackets... there is such a thing as cross member sag..
this is where the cross member bends do to suspension moving up and down constantly for decades... it moves the upper control arm brackets in so it makes it impossible to get a wheel alignment without offset bushings or shafts..
it also moves the frame rails closer.. makes it almost impossible to install headers.. there's just not enough room..
when there is frame sag.. the motor mount bolts are almost impossible to insert.. pry bars are needed..
a frame dimension chart is available on Ebay... 5 bucks..
this is not a complicated repair.. and it can be done with the engine in...
headers really wake these up... do plan on a decent exhaust... perhaps using 92/93 RWD fleetwood cad mufflers. 1992 versions are aluminized... 1993 versions are stainless..
i had the cheep turbo mufflers bolted on adaptors directly to the headers... it was way loud... it was fun... i sold it 24 years ago.. and still have dreams about driving it..
