hi everyone! i'm in the process of putting new body bushings on my goat. i bought a kit from OPGI with hardware. the instructions they included with the kit are generic and don't seem to help me much. i got all of the bushings in where i think they are supposed to go however when i set the body down the front bushings under the firewall seem like they are too tall. next to the bushings there are solid rubber peices that have about a quarter inch of space from the top to the body. i will upload some pictures of what i'm talking about, and hopefully someone will be able to help me out. thanks in advance!

just curious....   looking at the diagram... did you order the extra bushings for the convertible????

(B) which is the outer corner bushing calls for a 8380 upper bushing and they gave you six in the kit..

(E) which is the inner bushings... calls for the same upper bushing.. 8380 upper /20612 lower...

perhaps the solid rubber bushing you are placing in the E location.. is for the (A) position..

sure looks like it according to the instructions you posted..

what was the part number on the bag????     there seem to be various part numbers with different amounts of bushings in the bags???

Bushing Supplement, Body Mount, 1964-72
clipped from the OPGI site..
Some GTO, Tempest and Le Mans were originally equipped with additional bushings depending on added options and the engine size. Most vehicles with larger engines require the supplement.
Each kit contains 2 uppers and 2 lowers.

Part No. Description Year Unit List Sale
SB0518 (R) 2 upper, 2 lower 64-67 SET

hope this helps...

the kit i ordered is SB615K. my car is a 69 hard top. they have a different kit for the convertable.
when i took my car apart it had the solid cushions in the E locations under the firewall, which is how i put it back together.  the diagram also shows solid cushions in the middle of the frame, but my car had bushings that bolt in in that place. the diagram shows bolt in bushings one spot further back on the car, but my car had solid cushions in that location.

the bushings that came out look to be original so i tried to put everything back the way it came apart. should i have put bolt in bushings in both of the locations under the firewall??

do you still have the original bushings??? can you compare them to the new ones????

if you look at the parts numbers on the chart.. they do show the same part number from the outside on the inside...

perhaps the chart is wrong...    perhaps the inner bushings only part way support the body... and the outers pull down  to bring the inners into contact with the body... but not as much compression of the bushing...

perhaps a call to OPGI...   i am sure they have answered this before.. perhaps an email...

maybe they should have one of their techs receiving the automated emails from this forum..  see the RSS link above to the right..
