70-74 all used the same glass and it is not what I call oval. I too would like to see the photo and some more informtion (i.e how many people have owned the car).
This is a 36 year old car so it is possible its somebody's custom idea ...

Is it surrounded with a tuck and roll vinyl roof cover?

Probably someone added them to the sail panel. Just my guess.

I think what he's trying to say is that the fastback part of the car (behind the door windows) for the back seats. I've seen this on a '73 espirit, don't know if it's factory or custom though

Do you mean like actual oval side windows on the sail panels like an old T-Bird? I'm still not picturing this at all - like to see a pic. Here in Houston I used to see a lot of Firebirds that had a thick "leather sofa" looking top on their cars, with an oval cut out over the rear glass. They usually had purple velvet seats, a chrome chain steering wheel and a fur dashboard.

What he maybe asking about is the optional opera windows that GM offered in those years. I almost bought a 73 Monte Carlo SS that had them. Some Camaros had them in that era also. I don't know if they were ever part of an optional package Pontiac offered. Glad I'm not from Houston....

Monte Carlo, Chevelle, Grand Prix - sure. But they were not what I call "oval" and I have never seen it on any Firebird nor do I recall it from the option sheet (it may be there but I've never seen it).
I would still, very much, like to see a photo of this car; or any other Camero/Firebird with these windows. Oh, just for the record I really was born in Missouri

It sounds like one of those weird things like the Trans Am station wagon. I touched one of those once to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Somehow, I could never picture it at the drag strip.

you can post them to photobucket... then post the links here .. some people can figure out how to make them pop up..
if you just post a link... people can copy and paste it into a new window...
as for the transam wagon... i grew up here in LA... one of the guys down the street worked for the one of the magazines...
he used to drive home some really neat cars.. including the trans am wagon... he complained the radiator leaked.. he drove my mom crazy.. he would bring them home... and do parking brake turns just past our house on juanita st... right were mom could see him.. mom sees all.. i thought it was better than going to a car show... new and different cars almost every week... never did learn his name... i feel i lived a magical childhood.. prior to moving to juanita street... in central hollywood.. the guy across the street had 2 ford GT40's... painted in Gulf oil colors.. light blue with a orange or red stripe.. i would have to watch from across the street.. as his german shepards knew how to jump that 6 foot gate.. they got me more than once when i rode by on my bike..

Thank you for the photo. This is the first car I've ever seen with these windows. I've looked through my Pontiac Books and searched for "Option Lists" and your car is absolutely unique.
I suspect, but have no supporting facts, that this could have been offered as a dealer installed option, sorta like T Tops were on some Pontiacs. I also want to recall (its been 37 years)that these windows were offered by dealer for Mercury Cougars but are not a normal option for Firebird.
My best guess is that it still a custom creation - Maybe one of the others can provide more information.
