i got a 1979 trans am with 3.23 gears i believe there the factory ill double check though, its got a 1976 pontiac 400 i currently have in the machine shop getting rebuilt, the machine shop is gonna try to find domed pistons to give me around 9.5 compression or if they cant do that just mill it all and block the deck, its got a offenhauser intake and edlebrock 600, itll have headers on it and true duals with a H pipe, acell super hei,
its got 6x heads i have books and dvds on how to port these heads, im gonna attempt to port the heads to flow about 240 cfm at around the 500 lift with the information the books and dvds gave me, the car is gonna have around a 2500 stall converter
ok well i was looking at a xe274 or a summit 2802, Lunati 00071LK,
what my goal for the car is to be able to roast the tires without using the brake, and i want it to be able to go pretty good like high 13s or a 14 flat, and want to be put back in the seat, stock the smog 400s are kind of a joke, i dont want my car to be a smog 400 joke anymore lol,

Getting the compression up around 9-9.5:1 will help a lot I would recommend the lunati 00072LK if you deside not to port the heads and the lunati 00071LK if you do port the heads. Also upgrading to 750CFM carb. will help.

Since you are going big with the cam and increasing the compression and all that, you should go bigger with the carb too. 600 is too small for this set up. I'd recommend a 750 Holley with a tall & wide air cleaner on top to flow the full 750 cfms.
1969 GTO, YS code 400, 350hp/445 ft lbs of torque (stock specs), LT headers, H-pipe, 750 Holley 4160, Ignitor II ignition. Complete Painless wiring.
