Any experience out there with striping/blasting off painted headers and applying ceramic finish? Does it last? Worth the trouble? etc.

I have used it on my motor and it works good except on the exhaust ports. I clean everything up and mask off the manifolds and valve covers and hit again every year. It will only hold up for a several months then starts to go away. This was all clean boiled and bead blasted iron on the heads when I first applied it. The real ceramic coatings work good. People have told me not to buy headers new that are ceramic coated but to have it done by a seperate company for better results.

Works real good and has lasted 10 years on my Hedman's.I did order them bare fitted them to the car to do the ball pean "touch ups" to make sure there was no clearance issues then took them out and had them coated. There is absolutely nothing out there to keep the exhaust ports from discoloring on pontiac cast iron heads. I put aluminum heads on for performance and left them bare. I found one of the other added benefits is the aluminum exhaust ports do not discolor and keep the engine looking sharp. I think it's because the aluminum dissipates the heat much better and doesn't get hot spots like the cast iron. Same reason I can run 10.5:1 compression on pump gas.
