Which is a better engine? the 326(which could possibly be an H.O.) or the 400? I don't plan on racing or anything but, I am a big fan of speed. The 326 might be siezed(due to rust, from sitting under the hood w/o a carb.) the 326 is in a car I got for parts for my restore, the owner wants the engine back. but I might see about buying it, if it is better than my 400.

Stick with the 400 the rebuild kits are cheaper and produce brute torque with the right combo.

give the 326 cid back to the owner - more horses will come from the 400 cid engine - horses equal more fun - stick with the 400 cid
you do not have to race to enjoy horsepower

Unless the 326 is a correct motor for your car and you might plan on a correct restoration someday, use the 400. Good pistons are more readily available and you will make way more power. Steve
