This is typical of square pattern carbs on intakes with a spreadbore carb pad. The fix is easy, most speed shops and many parts stores can sell you a thin (1/16-3/32") plare with an extra gasket. You install one gasket on the manifold, then the plate, another gasket and then the carb. The carb and gasket seal to the top of the plate and then the plate and bottom gasket have enough overlap to seal on the manifold without vacuum leaks. Hope this helps. Steve

Ususally not Hp, just idle and driveability due to the vacuum leak. Check your jetting afterward, you may have to lean it out if it was jetted to compensate for the vacuum leak (assuming it did have a vacuum leak). Steve

You can also use a FelPro carb gasket 60123. It's thick and wide.

Is the plate slightly larger than the carb base? The ones I've used were a bit larger and allowed some extra overlap. Steve
