Are the rear spoiler body contours the same on gen 2 Camaros and Firebirds? I am talking about the area in which the spoiler is mounted to the car. Could a 70.5 camaro rear spoiler fit on a 79 Firebird with minimal alterations?

The side pieces that mount to the quarter panels are very different.
On a Camaro the tail lights wrap around the side and the back side of the spoiler are on an angle, thus there are no side marker lights in the quarters.
On a Firebird the entire rear spoiler is square with the back end.
A complete used spoiler is very easy to find at wrecking yards, parts tables at car shows, or online for around $100.

The Camaro 70.5 rear spoiler is a one piece design. Would it fit on the 79 firebird correctly?
Thanks for the reply

If you mean the one that just mounts to the trunk, yes it will fit. The later designs were three piece designs (which incidentally was a Pontiac design, when Chevy changed to the three piece, they stole the center section and made new side pieces) and the center is the same but the sides are different. A little help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!
