I found an 81 TA for a reasonable price. It has a 301 in it now. My question is can a 350 or 400 engine bolt up in this vehcile and if so what all needs to change to make the swap. Thanks

Assuming you mean a 350 or 400 Pontiac engine, yes it is a bolt in deal, same mounts, same trans, same hoses and wiring. I think you will need the accessory brackets (A/C, alt, PS etc) for the bigger engine because of the different spacing of the taller deck height (maybe the PS will work). If you still have the single exhaust, you will need a new crossover pipe, otherwise duals should be ok. Couldn't be much easier, it is a swap made in heaven. Steve
A little help... 'cause we don't all have to learn the hard way!

You can even use the 301 distributor with the HEI set up. I scavenged one off a 301 when I transplanted a 455 that originally had a old coil wire points system. Your swap should be even easier as I replaced a lathargic olds 403.
