I got an all original 68 GTO.  So original, the spare tire hasn't been out of her yet.  However, over the years, the silver paint on the ridges on the hide away headlight covers has worn off.  I need to repaint them - silver on the ridges, and black on the back drop.

I know hand painting would look like crap.  Any ideas on how to make them look new?  Better yest, how did Pontiac's head lite cover vendor do it??

Thanks.

You could use Liquid Mask.  Paint it all silver and then use the Liquid Mask (I've seen it used on wheels)on the parts that will remain silver.  Next spray the black.  Remove the Mask and you have a two color paint job. Try it on something else before you try it on your headlight doors. If you can't find it at the parts store try a hobby shop.
