I think I have come to right place for help?! I am currently helping a family member in selling his 67 GTO. I can't seem to get the vin# decoded. Every site I have visited requires more numbers. This car has 12 numbers and 1 letter. I am searching for proof of what appears to be a rare model in 67 as to provide as a selling point. Please allow me to offer a "Thank You" in advance for any assistance.
This is what I am trying to show documentation for: More specifically; read the last line

"A healthy 81,722 GTOs were built in '67, with 7,029 of those pillared coupes, 65,176 hardtops and 9,517 convertibles. Of those cars, only 2,967 had the lackluster two-barrel 400, 13,827 got the 400 HO and just 751 were Ram Air equipped. If you want a rare GTO, look for a '67 Ram Air convertible. Only 56 were built."

It is a '67 GTO 2-dr. convertable, 400 engine, auto trans. dual-gate hurst shifter, buckets, ram air, rallies, duals, no rust car. I can't seem to figure out how to slap a pix on this site, but its a real head turner. just professionally tuned on original motor, runs and looks great. Did not frame-off, new trim and 7-coat paint job(3 of regiment red, 4 clear)everything replaced with correct parts. Only thing not functioning correctly is the Am-Fm radio. Vin#242677K135906  showing 34285 on odom. Black interior. Located in Lebanon, Oregon. Current reg.

Oh, Texas isn't that far. Heck I was just there delivering produce. Seen a small handful around here but none with a rag top. Just received PHS documentation and listed her at 60k. Have some solid hits, but she's still in the barn. If ya just want a looksie, let me know. I could always forward you a snap or two, or copy you next time I post it. Thanx and Happy New Year......

There isn't a lot of decoding to be done from the VIN, but: it is the proper combination of numbers and letters. 24267 means it is a GTO convertible, the next 7 means it is a 1967, and the K means it was built in Kansas City. 135906 is a sequence number assigned by the factory, but doesn't necessarily tell you when it was built. The best way to find out exactly how it was built is to get the package from Pontiac Historical Services. They are the only ones who can decode vintage Pontiac VINs. Lookup PHS on the net. It's $35.

Thanks for your help. After receiving PHS papers, build sheet, copy of window sticker, and lots of hours on the internet, I am happy to report that I now know stuff. Whew! Learned so much about this '67 and it has been fun. again thanx for leading me in the right direction and if your curious, go to Portland, Or. craigslist(1967 Goat convertable) and take a look at a couple photos.
