I have a rear end with a stamping of L806 or L306 (it is hard to tell) and right below it is the number 9783393. I found these numbers on the lower right corner of the 10 bolt cover. Does any one know what this came out of?
Thanks

I'm not sure what your numbers are but the Axel ID is stamped on the passenger side axle housing on the top side.  You will usually need to clean the area and use a mirror and strong light to see it.

Example:  ZB 01 01 G E

+1 Milt. Plus then you really need to know what it came out of, to decode the code.

I have looked all over the axle housing (top on both pass and driver side) and I don't see any numbers. I have been told it came out a 66-67 GTO. I will keep looking for some numbers. Thanks

They are not easy to spot but they are stamped into the housing. Try wire brushing the area. The rub some chalk into the stamping.  I recall it being about 4 " from the inside edge of the tube.

SORRY! I'm wrong!

I went to http://www.wallaceracing.com/axledata2.htm and it says: "1967-1969 : Rear of left hand (driver) tube, about 3" from carrier and stamped on left rear brake drum".

The information I gave you was for my 79 TA.
