I've posted these pictures elsewhere but they may not be otherwise available to someone considering and searching for a 9" Ford kit. I believe I would have done this mod much earlier had I seen or had the chance to deal with one. Everything was pretty much a bolt in. We chose the 3.50 gear as I am approaching 1,000 rwtq right now. Anything less just seems to make the lower gears useless. We also went with the 35 spline Wavetrace differential. The kit contains 300 mm stubs and axle shafts and stronger CVS assemblies. We had installed 33 spline outer hubs while running the spool on the OEM differential so we kept them. All in all I like the setup, it just feels solid. Enjoy the pictures.

As I said, installation took only a couple of hours, the control arms were replaced, they had nothing to do with the kit but that took the longest.

As you can see we already had the GForce1320 coil overs and the mini tub kit installed by SNL Performance.

Ethyl is coming along nicely Bill.  I still need a ride in that beast.  The 9" conversion looks like a beast!  Those axles are huge.  I think you'll need more power than she has right now to break it, but you can always have fun trying. Smile

Maybe someday I will be making enough power in the G8 to need one of those bad-ass 9" setups.

Well you are starting off with a better platform than we had and if the last car you brought along is any example I am sure we will see you there soon enough Smile

Yeah, I miss the Goat - a bunch - but it was for a good cause.  This G8 makes a really nice replacement though, and it's still a Pontiac.  It's already REAL close to being a 12 second car.

That's great to hear, glad you are enjoying the ride.

wrp, while I'm not particularly a fan of the new GTO (maybe because we couldn't get them in Canada!), I can really appreciate the time and effort you are putting into yours. I always like to see passion in a car guy's efforts and you definitely have passion for this car. There is another guy who pops in from time to time with a 4th gen V6 F-body that has some extensive mods and he too never ceases to amaze me. Gives me a glimpse of the Pontiac world outside my traditional V8 box. Great work and keep us updated.

Since this is fabricated steel, is it lighter than the stock unit?  Or does the weight of the other heavy-duty components make up for it?

No actually the Pumpkin itself is heavier than the diff we took out. The casing is lighter though and consider also we added the Wavetrac Differential to the pumpkin

Nice work man but the only 9" I know about in a Pontiac is mine. Grin  Cool

My Moser unit uses some of the same basic components.

Looking good, WRP. Gforce1320 recently rebuild my stock diff and I had them add a Truetrac. If I ever need another diff in the future, I will definitely get a 9" setup like yours. Obviously, you are putting down more power than me, but on the bottle, I'm well over 550 hp to the wheels.  I also like the fact the 9" has a better selection of gears.

I've been running Gforce1320 drivetrain parts in my 04 GTO for years. They really hold up. I have a stack of timeslips to prove they take a thrashing. I'm thinking about getting their heavy duty adjustable toe rods next.

Here is a pic of my half shafts powder coated to match my car and Pedders suspension. The CV joints are super strong Porsche 930 units. The axles on mine are 4340 billet steel, but you can also get Level 2 made of billet 300M.

I also have the Gforce1320 inner axle stubs and carbon fiber one-piece driveshaft. The orginal two-piece driveshaft with rubber donuts was a joke. The CF driveshaft shaved .1 off my 60' time.

I had a complete GForce1320 setup before we swapped this out. Once we passed 960 ft lbs of torque we figured we should take it to this level.
