Tranny rebuild

I am kind of new to the restoring world. I am currently rebuilding my tranny. It is a muncie 21 4 speed out of a 1967 gto. My question is: apparently when I bought this car there were missing internal parts to my tranny or at least thats what I am being told from my mechanic. Is it possible that a transmission could function properly without all of its internal parts?
Thanks Jeff

Jeff, before you started rebuilding the Muncie, what problems were you having with it?

That's crazy, if the car was working before it had its parts. I say get a mechanic that has a clue.
Drive it before your dead!

it would be very strange to be missing internal parts of a muncie transmission..
unless something was broken and it was reassembled missing parts just to get it out the door and across the auction block or off on some other person..
how about spending some times reading and clicking through several articles on rebuilding the muncie... so you will know what the mechanic is talking about..

that is very strange..
now if the transmission was out of the car when purchased .. thats a whole different story...
all kinds of stuff could be missing...
at least most parts are available.. if you have trouble finding something.. try aagearsandshafts george is a good friend of mine.. they have a lot of stuff for these in stock.
