I bought a 1968 Bonneville off of a guy a few years back.  It is a four door.  Pretty good shape.  Does not have original motor, has a 389.  I am parting it out.  Where do you find the tag on the rear axle to find out if it is Posi Track, and if the tag is missing, how else can you tell?  Also, if anyone needs parts from this car, let me know.

Not a 100% sure on that car but the tag should be on the rear of the right side axle tube.

Try this link according to them it will be on the drivers side tube for your year.

1967-1969 : Rear of left hand (driver) tube, about 3" from carrier and stamped on left rear brake drum.

It could be just stamped into the tube or on a metal tag.

Your welcome and no bother.

Here is how you determine if you have a posi carrier.
Jack up the rear of the car, put jack stands under the frame for safety.,.mark the tire with chalk, then turn and count the drive shaft revolutions, until the tire has made one revolution.
On a posi, both wheels will turn.,. on a non posi, you'll have to hold one tire from turning.,. otherwise the spider gears will just turn.
Simple as that.,. the turns on the d-shaft tell you the ratio.

Thnx guys, will check it out.  If anyone need parts, let me know.  It is in pretty decent shape.  The guy was going to restore it, but changed his mind.

Hi, I'm looking for the rear valance (the piece under the rear bumper) for my '68 Bonneville Coupe. What shape is yours in and how much are you asking including shipping to 83330 (Idaho)?
Thanks,
Bernie

Hey Bernie, sorry did not have time to check that valance out tonight. Had a bunch of stuff to do.  Have to go to Cleveland Clinic tomorrow.  Will do it this weekend and post the pics if you are still interested.  Just let me know.  The guy I bought the car off of was restoring it and already has some of the parts taken off of it.  I know the front splash pan is really good, have not really looked at the back one. The car is a light blue, which I know you really don't care about color. Anyhow, let me know if you are still interested.  Will get pics this weekend when home from Cleveland Clinic.  Not sure how long they are going to keep me.

Does it have the 4 little 4" long stainless steel trim pieces that are located at the front and rear of the rear wheel wells. Below the fender skirt?

Hey Dark, I would have to check in the trunk. I just looked tonight, right now all I have found is just the valance. The guy that had the car before me had been tearing it down to restore it, and had taken the valance off of the rear bumper. I will take a pic of it tomorrow and show it to you. It has not been a good week. Have a doc appt tomorrow, have to have a biopsy Thursday, and I had another cousin die on Memorial day and have to go to her funeral Friday. Her brother died less than 2 years ago. He was also 52. Their mom and dad's only kids. They had no grandkids. Going to be a rough one....
